Hi everyone! I’m Remo aka the Wilder Bridger. I create short videos about bridge that are both humorous and educational. My goal is to entertain players of all skill levels and to popularise bridge among young people, hopefully attracting new viewers and players!

Interview with Remo

What inspired you to become a bridge influencer?

When I joined the national team, my coach suggested I create videos for his students. I gave it a try, and that’s how my YouTube channel was born. The name Wilder Bridger comes from a memorable moment at the club, when a partner said to me after a small slam went down six doubled: « You really are a wild bridge player! »

At what age did you start playing bridge?

I started playing bridge when I was 13, first learned the game at school and have been passionate about it ever since. I would say that bridge is my life. After a short period of playing, I eventually became a member of a club and had my own league team consisting of four students from my class.

What is your best bridge memory?

During the pandemic, I played bridge online every day—that’s when I launched my YouTube channel. Not long after, I had the honour of competing in my first World Championships with Germany’s U21 team—an unforgettable experience. Later, I made it to the 2nd Bundesliga, and the following year, I led my own team at the Worlds.

What are your dreams and goals as a bridge player?

I have many dreams. Playing with the world’s best players is probably one of the easiest to achieve. But I also want to represent my country around the world with my bridge at some point. My goal is to win a medal at World Championships or other major national and international tournaments.

If you had to encourage someone to play bridge, what would you say?

It looks complicated at first, and it is, but once you understand the basic rules, you can’t get enough of it. Every hand offers new opportunities, and every hand is different from the last. It’s the king of card games. Bridge is chess with cards.

What do you like most about Funbridge?

Creating your own tournament is an awesome feature. I also really enjoy the Bridge Points Circuit. It encourages you to play often, push yourself, and have fun. And the 5-board challenges add a nice twist and keep the suspense alive until the very end.

Believing in yourself and putting in the effort can take you far—I never imagined I’d one day play in a World Championship, yet it became a reality. Obstacles are part of the journey: what matters is having the courage to try, learning from your mistakes (even a -1400 isn’t the end of the world!), and above all, enjoying every single deal.
