Your average performance is changing!
Available in any player’s profile (including yours), the average performance indicates his level. Until recently, it was represented by two values: a percentage and IMPs for MP and IMP tournaments respectively. Each value illustrated your average score on a deal.
We have decided to update the average performance as follows:
New values
The average performance is now represented by three values: IMPs, a percentage and an overall value (taking into account all deals by converting those scored by IMPs into a %).
New tournaments included in the calculation
New tournaments will now be taken into account in the calculation.Easy tournaments, “Face the Elites” tournaments and special tournaments (such as Bridge International Championships also known as BICs, Halloween and Back to Bridge tournaments) will be integrated on top of practice deals, daily tournaments, series tournaments, challenges, exclusive tournaments, team tournaments and federation tournaments.
A more accurate progression rate
The average performance will now be based on your last 1,000 deals instead of 5,000 so far. Therefore, it will better reflect your current level and will show how much you are progressing in a more dynamic way.
These changes are retroactive, which means that your average performance may significantly vary when the new calculation rules will come into effect.
Your average performance is not displayed
Your average performance will not be available until you play at least 100 deals. Beyond this threshold, it will be automatically displayed in your profile.
I´ve been always in elite serie and play the series tournaments8elite)and only chalenge against Ardine. You must have this in account. This results should be evaluated.
So – a new approach to use just 1000 deals, which will be less than a recent month for many of us, who play around 50 deals a day – therefore 1000 deals is just the last 20 days. No national Bridge union would use such a short period.
Another strange thing is the rating position you show eg mine approximately ‘2600/75000’ – which is clearly based on the previous 5000 deals rather than the last 1000 deals – so it is contradictory.
A further question – will this change the way our players play in the team competition – our team TeamAKQJ is almost always a high level in division 1. So will I play as second, nit first – even though I am about 2600/total where my team mate TKroken is ranked higher – yet is approximately 3200/total.
Cheers, Peter Hall

Where is the matchpoints average ??
As long as you do not make your calculation process more transparent this indicator does not mean much to me. It is unclear to me for example how the strengths of my competitors are taken into account. Equal results in a higher series are different from those in lower ones, aren’t they? And what about the two cancelled deals out of ten in the series tournements – are they included or excluded from the calculation of the average performance indicator? Furthermore I agree with Peter Hall 1000 deals are not enough.
For us playing a few deals a day, the change to 1000 deals is very welcome
One compromise. Use no deals older than five years. Use all deals five years and younger for people with less than 1001 deals the last five years. For people with more than 1000 deals the last five years, use all deals from the last year, up to the 5000 last deals. And give no score for people with less than 50 deals the last five years.
