Masterclass: Counting
Here is a new Masterclass that is available until 14 November! And it is about: Counting.
What is important to count in a board?
Optimally we would like to be able to count everything, but that is not as easy as we would like. We are not machines, so counting takes time and energy. So sometimes we have to prioritise. Once we have gotten good at some things we can move on. So this Masterclass is trying to help most levels.
We start with counting trumps in the first two boards, if you have already mastered that you can skip the videos and go over to board 3-5 where we count the important suit(s), then for board 6-8 we go another step up to counting points. In the last two boards we try to set up full distributions for opponents.
This is quite difficult, but you can always try and watch the video afterwards to see how Sofie is doing it. Since this Masterclass is very varied in level the plan is that you watch the video for the level(s) that you think best fits you.

What is the most important suit we count in this hand, playing 3NT:
Here the most important suit to count is spades. In hearts and clubs we always have three tricks, nothing more or less, and it does not matter if opponents follow suit or not. The same goes for diamonds where we have one trick, and it does not matter how the suit is divided. However in spades it is important that we count. We start by playing the three highest spades, and if the suit is divided 3-2 we can get a trick on our low spade as well, but if the suit is divided 4-1 or 5-0 we only have three tricks. So it is important that we pay attention to have the suit is divided.
