What would be your next bid?
Sitting in West, what would be your next bid?
Jérôme Rombaut’s answers
To answer this question, it is necessary and sufficient to really understand the meaning of this protective 1NT bid. Indeed, the protective seat (after two passes) forces a bid more frequently as, otherwise, the bidding stops at a low level and the opponents might be able to make their contract easily when we might have one ourselves. It is often said that in the protective seat, bids are stretched by a couple of points. Here, it is even slightly more: the protective 1NT shows between 10 and 13 points (instead of 15-17 or even 16-18 as a direct overcall).
20/20 ✅
A classic invitation to game to find out whether Partner is maximum or minimum.
Why not a cue bid to check Partner’s heart stop? Though there is no alternative to a NT contract to be seen.
15/20
A bit optimistic since we have between 22 and 25 points combined; you may as well invite Partner to game rather than thrusting it upon him.
10/20
A bit pessimistic but not completely silly; at least you will get a positive score!
5/20
Small reminder: the contract to prioritise looking for is a game. Here, 3NT is where one will get the biggest bonus.

Simple, and clear. More please.
A quiz deal a day would be wonderful. Specially the bid analysis and the logic of it.

Is 2nt the correct answer??
