Sitting North, what would be your next bid?
What would be your next bid?
Jérôme Rombaut’s solution
Excellent bid, one of the most difficult! Indeed, with 2 cards in Opener’s first suit, you can give preference to show a weak hand (6-10 points). With a clear fit (3 cards), you would have bid 2♥ on the previous round.
20/20 ✅
I’m going to share an easy-to-remember rule: you always need 6 cards to rebid your suit for Responder unless your partner promised a balanced hand (1NT) or made an auto-forcing bid (reverse bid).
15/20
It would be 4th suit forcing, which requires at least 11 points. The hand is a bit too weak here.
10/20
You have all the suits stopped, certainly, but you don’t have the 10-11 points required and your hand is not very suitable for NT.
5/20
I feel sorry for Partner who will probably have to play in this contract in a 4-1 fit!

Surely you were sitting south not North?
Yes think that the question may be wrong – we’re south ?
Good lesson! Let’s have more!
South not North?
Hard to say with only 2 small hearts, but probably makes sense
Same thought as the others. It is not North but South!
Same thought as the others.
réponse evidente 2coeurs…………!!!!!!
I didn’t realise you need 6 to repeat your spades – so good to know
Me neither! So thanks Jerome…I will remember your tip.
The question is unclear. Are these cards of the South? That is, the North does not see them. What is the meaning of this question?
really obvoius
see lots of questions about who owns this hand, but no answer.
Good question. We face this scenario so many times. Hard to bid 2 ❤️, but rest are even worse.
This is a different kind of bridge I used to why would you even open one heart to begin with?
