Let\u2019s count the tricks: one in spades, two in hearts and one in clubs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>That gives a total of 4 tricks so far.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Potential tricks to develop: two others in spades, one in clubs and three in diamonds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With several possibilities to explore, it\u2019s time to come up with a plan. Before reading on, consider how you would play this hand yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Initial thoughts:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The diamonds are tempting because they offer the opportunity to develop the most tricks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The spades look promising too, but if the finesse fails, it could lose to the more dangerous opponent (West), who could then continue with hearts.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"580\" height=\"874\" src=\"https:\/\/funbridge.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/tom2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-100400\" style=\"width:auto;height:500px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/funbridge.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/tom2.png 580w, https:\/\/funbridge.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/tom2-199x300.png 199w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 580px) 100vw, 580px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>The first trick went to my queen of hearts and I played the ten of diamonds. East won with the king and returned the king of hearts, which I took with my ace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next, West won the third round of diamonds with the ace and returned a club. I ducked, allowing East to win one more heart trick.
