class=\"stk-highlight\">&#x2663;<\/span><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong>, going beyond <strong>3NT<\/strong>, shows <strong>slam interest<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This therefore excludes <strong>hand 1<\/strong>, a <strong>5\u20135 two-suiter in the minors<\/strong> with only <strong>10 HCP<\/strong>, which should be described by a <strong>Club transfer (2&#x2660;)<\/strong>, followed by a <strong>natural bid in Diamonds (3<strong><span style=\"color: #f87f0b;\" class=\"stk-highlight\">&#x2666;<\/span><\/strong>)<\/strong>, a sequence that allows the partnership to play in <strong>3NT<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-spacer stk-block-spacer stk--no-padding stk-block stk-2b7610f\" data-block-id=\"2b7610f\"><style>.stk-2b7610f {height:25px !important;}<\/style><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In the same vein, <strong>hand 3<\/strong>, with <strong>11 HCP<\/strong>, is shown via a <strong>Diamond transfer at 3<strong><strong><span style=\"color: #53a325;\" class=\"stk-highlight\">&#x2663;<\/span><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong>, followed by <strong>3NT<\/strong> (be careful: this shows <strong>Club shortness<\/strong>). <strong>South<\/strong>, holding good Clubs, will pass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are therefore left to distinguish between the <strong>only two hands<\/strong> with which we wish to play a <strong>slam<\/strong>. To show <strong>Club shortness<\/strong> together with a <strong>strong hand<\/strong>, the chosen solution is to bid <strong>4<strong><strong><span style=\"color: #53a325;\" class=\"stk-highlight\">&#x2663;<\/span><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong> after the transfer. <strong>Hand 4<\/strong> is therefore the correct one. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This approach allows the opener to <strong>evaluate his hand accurately<\/strong>. A <strong>grand slam<\/strong> could even be reached opposite <strong>&#x2660;KQ2 <strong><span style=\"color: #f61616;\" class=\"stk-highlight\">&#x2665;<\/span><\/strong>A874 <strong><span style=\"color: #f87f0b;\" class=\"stk-highlight\">&#x2666;<\/span><\/strong>K63 <strong><strong><span style=\"color: #53a325;\" class=\"stk-highlight\">&#x2663;<\/span><\/strong><\/strong>A53<\/strong>, a <strong>splendid hand<\/strong> with a <strong>fine Diamond fit<\/strong> and <strong>no wasted values in Clubs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So what should be done with <strong>hand 2<\/strong>, which is equally promising? The clearest action is to make a <strong>forcing raise to 4<strong><span style=\"color: #f87f0b;\" class=\"stk-highlight\">&#x2666;<\/span><\/strong><\/strong>.
