Nothing will be lost, you\u2019ll ask for the Jack, knowing that now you only need to establish one more trick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By tackling Spades, but you must do it the right way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Which way exactly?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

You need to get back to hand with the King of Clubs and then finesse against West, the dangerous hand, to who you must not lose the lead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You insert the Queen, and then one of two things will happen:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • West plays the 9, 10 or King. Now your contract is home because Diamonds were 2-2 or 3-1.<\/li>
  • The Queen wins the trick as West discards… easy. Now you play a Spade to the 10 and you even take thirteen tricks if West holds the Queen and not more than three Spades.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    After discovering the \u201cunfortunate\u201d split in Diamonds, you did not panic at all and every time you made sure of making your small slam whereas any other action would have forced you to guess the location of the Queen of Spades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Taking away any chance your opponents may have of thwarting the success of your contract must be a constant concern for you. With this in mind, anticipate and think of a parry, a remedy that is perfectly suited to all possible situations.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
