The fate of the contract seems to rest on the success of the finesse against the Queen of Spades, but the presence of the 9 allows declarer to increase his chances. He takes the Ace of Diamonds, draws trumps, ruffs dummy\u2019s third Diamond, then gets off lead by playing Ace-King of Clubs and a Club. If East wins the trick, South can claim the rest because the defender must either play a Spade towards the Ace-Jack or give him a ruff and discard. If the finesse fails, you\u2019ll have to hope for Clubs 3-3 (or a squeeze in Hearts and Clubs). If it holds, you test the Clubs. If West is short there, next cash Ace-Queen of Hearts. If West has long Hearts (which is likely based on the first trick), cash the Diamonds, ending in dummy. When West discards on the third round of the suit, you know enough. If West wins and insists with another Heart, win with the King (ducking is illusory when the King of Spades is all but known in West\u2019s hand and Hearts breaking 5-2) and test Diamonds. If they are 4-1, as one must fear, cash your Clubs, thus eliminating West\u2019s cards in the suit, and play\u2026 a Heart!
