It therefore seems as though you need the finesse against the King of &#x2665; to work, which is a completely reasonable suggestion since East opened. If you play the Jack of &#x2665; from the dummy, covered by the King, it will then be very simple to continue with the Queen of &#x2665; and, finally, ruff the last &#x2665; from your hand in the dummy. However, is there a way of avoiding this finesse?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>You do, in fact, have an extra chance that is not too easy to spot<\/strong>. Play a high trump from your hand and advance your Queen of &#x2663;, which is a winner. In the favourable scenario where West only started with two trumps, he will discard. You will be able to throw a &#x2665; from the dummy and then easily finish up with a crossruff. And if West ruffs your Queen of &#x2663;?
