This may seem insufficient to you to make a trial bid opposite a partner who has only promised 6-10 points (also including distribution and length)? But yet, your exceptional distribution makes game possible even when your partner has a minimum as long as he has the right cards, including the Spade Queen, the Club King and \u2012 to a lesser extent \u2012 the red Aces. You will therefore naturally go for setting up your side suit (<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\" class=\"stk-highlight\">15 points<\/span><\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-spacer stk-block-spacer stk--no-padding stk-block stk-7475efe\" data-block-id=\"7475efe\"><style>.stk-7475efe{height:10px !important}<\/style><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What maneuvers do you plan to carry out?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll start establishing your Clubs by trying the finesse against the King (<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\" class=\"stk-highlight\">5 points<\/span><\/strong>). You continue by ruffing a Club in the dummy (<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\" class=\"stk-highlight\">5 points<\/span><\/strong>), or maybe two if necessary, that is to say if the missing Clubs break 4-2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-spacer stk-block-spacer stk--no-padding stk-block stk-39e1e33\" data-block-id=\"39e1e33\"><style>.stk-39e1e33{height:10px !important}<\/style><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What do you play at trick two?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Like we just saw, you may have to ruff two Clubs. Therefore, you have to quickly start setting up the suit, before touching trumps. After winning the lead with the Diamond Ace, you make use of your time in dummy and play a Club to your Queen (<strong><span style=\"color: #fe0000;\" class=\"stk-highlight\">10 points<\/span><\/strong>). The finesse fails and West plays another Diamond, which you ruff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-spacer stk-block-spacer stk--no-padding stk-block stk-0306d3e\" data-block-id=\"0306d3e\"><style>.stk-0306d3e{height:10px !important}<\/style><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How do you continue?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For the same reason as before, it\u2019s not time yet to play a trump. You continue setting up your Clubs (<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\" class=\"stk-highlight\">10 points<\/span><\/strong>) by playing the Ace (both defenders follow small) and another Club, West following with the 10. The only missing Club is the Jack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-spacer stk-block-spacer stk--no-padding stk-block stk-3ae02d9\" data-block-id=\"3ae02d9\"><style>.stk-3ae02d9{height:10px !important}<\/style><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Which card do you ruff with?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It would be a shame to ruff with the Queen (<strong><span style=\"color: #fe0000;\" class=\"stk-highlight\">4 points<\/span><\/strong>) if the Clubs break nicely (3-3). On the other hand, if you ruff with the 2 (<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\" class=\"stk-highlight\">6 points<\/span><\/strong>) you know that East will overruff if he started with only two Clubs. The correct card is therefore the 10 (<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\" class=\"stk-highlight\">10 points<\/span><\/strong>), which may hold the trick even if East had only two Clubs as long as he does not hold the Spade Jack. This is the case on this deal since East discards a Diamond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-spacer stk-block-spacer stk--no-padding stk-block stk-949d813\" data-block-id=\"949d813\"><style>.stk-949d813{height:10px !important}<\/style><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How do you finish?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The 4-2 break in Clubs forces you to ruff another Club in the short hand (<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\" class=\"stk-highlight\">5 points<\/span><\/strong>). You therefore get back to hand with a Diamond ruff and play another Club and ruff it with&#8230; the Queen (<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\" class=\"stk-highlight\">5 points<\/span><\/strong>)! Ruffing with the 2 (<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\" class=\"stk-highlight\">3 points<\/span><\/strong>) would expose you to an overruff followed by three rounds of Hearts that might put you in difficulties, threatening either the loss of trump control or a trump promotion. Now that your fifth Club is established, it is (finally!) time to draw trumps (<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\" class=\"stk-highlight\">5 points<\/span><\/strong>) hoping for the suit to break 3-2 with the Jack being doubleton. If the deep finesse fails and West wins the 9 with the Jack or 10, it is advisable to get back to dummy and finesse against the King.
