As you know, it is common to open light in third position. But are you familiar with how the responses change? The developments are based on Drury, SEF version.
A light opening in third position


The opening of 1♠ in third position with only 10 high-card points is justified by the very good quality of the suit. Since opener may be light, the catch-all 1NT response can show up to 11 points after an initial pass, which allows the partnership to stop at a low level here, as opener has no reason to bid again with this hand.
