Lebensohl or Rubensohl?
These two conventions are used after a 1NT opening and a suit overcall.
Lebensohl is easy to learn and to use with an occasional partner. Rubensohl, used by the best French pairs, is more precise and better suited to modern overcalls.
Two common bids
❶ The negative (Sputnik) double
A takeout-style double from 6–7 HCP upward, pointing to the unbid major or majors.
❷ A suit at the 2 level
