Declarer is sometimes led to make a reverse or jump shift with three cards. If a reverse, only when holding a six-card minor in a hand that is too strong for it to be shown with a jump rebid. If a jump shift, either in the former scenario, or to show support that is too strong for simply making a splinter bid.
