Board 1: North-South vulnerable, IMP scoring

Scoring:
5♦ : 100
6♦ : 80
4♠ : 20

6♦. West’s silence is deafening. It suggests that my partner’s cue-bid comes from a fairly balanced hand, around 18–19 HCP. In that case, it is logical to assume that our side is in the grand slam zone.
If I choose 5♦, neither of us will have enough information to bid it. By contrast, 6♦ gives partner a precise picture of my hand. One underlying assumption: the opener does not bid 4♦ with a routine hand containing both majors. With that type, he would bid 3♥, over which 3♠ would be a relay to gather more information.

5♦. The most flexible bid to clarify partner’s hand.
He should hold some Diamonds, given West’s silence, perhaps even a club one-suiter, which would make a grand slam more attractive.
Otherwise, we can consider 6♥ over 5♥ and 6♦ over 5♠.
